Join Richard M. Candee, Professor Emeritus of American and New England Studies at Boston University as he presents his talk on Wallace Nutting at the Discover Portsmouth Center, 10 Middle Street in Downtown Portsmouth. An authority on Nutting, Candee’s book Wallace Nutting’s Portsmouth: Photographs of the ‘Colonial Past’ 1908-1918 is available at the Discover Portsmouth Center, and at the Wentworth Lear Historic Houses, where an exhibit on Nutting is on display through October 12th.  A book signing will follow the talk.

Minister, photographer, artist and antiquarian—Wallace Nutting is a significant part of the history of the Wentworth Lear Historic Houses. He became a successful advocate of the American Colonial Revival movement, and is primarily known today for his photographic portraits of Colonial interiors and pastoral settings.
